Can there be a love which does not make demands on its object?
As humans, even our selflessness is tainted with selfishness, and so it’s almost impossible to even conceive of such a relationship, where no demands are placed on the beloved by the lover. Be it a romantic relationship or a friendship (Philia) or even a parent and child relationship (Storge), both parties are always placing and will always place demands on each other.

The fact is you know I like you, you know I’ve always liked you and yet you just keep stringing me along knowing full well that you’re never really going to give me a chance and that I’m just a convenient option for you to have.
What’s the point of life?
And maybe that’s all that matters. Finding something, anything at all that grips you and trying to make that the centerpiece of your life; maybe, just maybe that’s what life is all about.
